ABOUT THE RACE - watch a video about the race
Jill Behrman was an IU student and an employee of Campus Recreational Sports. One sunny May day in 2000 she went for a solo bike ride prior to her scheduled shift at the SRSC. Jill had planned to meet up with her parents and grandparents for lunch after work – she never made it to work or to lunch that day. Jill was missing and presumed abducted for three years before her body was discovered in a wooded area in Morgan County – Jill had been murdered. As tragic as this story is, Jill’s parents, Eric and Marilyn, and her brother, Brian, have used every opportunity possible to turn this tragedy in to a rallying point within the campus and community.
As a result the Jill Behrman 5K was born, as well the Jill Behrman Emerging Leader Scholarship and Jill’s House. IU Campus Recreational Sports has been proud to present the Jill Behrman 5K to the campus and community for the past nine years using the proceeds to benefit both Jill’s House and the Jill Behrman Emerging Leader Scholarship |
